Condolences and Aid for Japan

Our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy for friends and family who have been affected by the disaster that struck Sendai Japan.  The Kawasaki Rendokan is proposing a Judo Throw-athon.  We will be organizing pledges for break falls taken (children under 10 may take a maximum of 25 break falls only)  The pledge  idea is $1.00 per throw for the junior group.  For the those 11 and older we could charge 25 cents per throw.  This has not yet been confirmed.

Phillip Darley, a 7 year old student in Sensei Al’s Judo group, has agreed to participate in this year’s Keirokai (Celebration of the elderly age 75 and older) on May 1, 2011 by performing on his Cello.  Tickets for the Dinner are $20.00 and must be purchased in advance.  Donations tins to the Canadian Red Cross will also be made available, and as an alternative donation organization we are considering the Toronto JCCC Foundation who have received authorization along with the Canadian Red Cross to offer a tax receipt.  For further information please contact the Hamilton Canadian Japanese Culture Centre office during the hours of 10-2pm weekdays.
