Sensei Kawasaki

Sensei Herman Vermeiren is the 2011 World Master Champion.

Growing up in a poor family in Belgium, Herman Vermeiren didn’t have the opportunity to begin judo at a young age.

Now, even at 77 years old, he continues to make up for lost time.

The 5th dan black belt not only still competes in the sport, he’s the best in the world in his age and weight class. Vermeiren won the 75-80 men’s 90-kilogram division at the Grand Masters Judo World Championships recently in Frankfurt, Germany, earning his first world title after finishing second the past three years.

• Mara Siladi in the women’s F7 -52kg. weight category – S&D Judo Club in Kitchener
• Monette LeBlanc in the women’s F5 -52kg. weight category from Quebec

Sensei Michael Morgenroth won the prestigious Championships 2005 in Mississauga and in Sydney Nova Scotia.  Over 1200 competitors from around the world participated.

Gosia and Mara will be participating in the World Kata Championships in June and Sensei Herman and Sensei Paul will be competing in the World Masters Championships in Germany in June. Good luck to all.
