On Sportsmanship and Comradery
Dear Kawasaki Club:
Just a short e-mail to send congratulations on your club’s efforts on the weekend at the Brampton Ontario Youth Invitational Judo Tournament. Your competitors fought well and represented your club in fine form. I especially enjoyed the chance to speak with Sensei Herman. He was a very friendly, knowledgeable and outgoing man. My son had the pleasure of competing against Zachary Raposo in the U15 -46 kg category, for the second time. They are developing a very friendly rivalry. In one of my son’s later matches, he found himself requiring a second white judogi top, after getting bloodstains on his own. Zachary, without being asked, had seen my son’s problem and rushed down to mat-side with his own judogi top to offer to Max. My son went on to win that match and Zach was the first person there to congratulate him. This kind of friendly sportsmanship is why I love being involved in youth judo and it speaks volumes on what kind of a young man Zachary is. My son feels very good about the comradery he experienced in Brampton and looks forward to future tournaments. My compliments to athletes and coaches of Kawasaki Rendokan Dojo!!!!!
Sincerely:
Hans Budgey Sensei Colchester Yawara Judo Club, Truro, Nova Scotia
